Turnover: Making Big Strides Quickly

When an employee decides to leave, it's costly to your income statement, and corrosive to the quality of your workforce. And when it begins taking three digits to express your annual turnover rate, we're talking about big bucks and major disruption.

But when Sysdine is combined with a strong management commitment to hiring process excellence, improvement can come in eye-opening proportions, and with surprising speed.

Pal's Sudden Service

For example, Pal's Sudden Service, of Kingsport, Tennessee,  is the only restaurant company ever to have won the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award.  "The Baldrige" is the nation's highest award for management excellence, and is presented each year by the President of the United States.

Pal's had started with an annual turnover rate of 212%.  But now, as Pal's CEO Thom Crosby says, "Year to date in the two categories we track, Store Assistant Managers turnover is 1.27% and General Employee turnover 52%.  Using Sysdine's hiring and training modules has helped us truly operationalize the principles in Jim Collin's book 'Good to Great'.  It has enabled our process for getting the right people on the bus and it helps us get them in the right positions (seats).  So we see the use of Sysdine not only reduces our turnover but it helps us increase productivity."

Jordan Enterprises

Jordan Enterprises of Memphis owns and operates the Holiday Deli and Ham Company stores, and the Pimento's Cafe & Market group.  Mary Higginbotham, Marketing & Special Projects Manager for Jordan, reports that "In April 2008, we began using Sysdine, and our employee turnover percentage was around 130%.  Exactly a year has passed, and our company now has a 22.3% turnover rate, thanks to Sysdine!"

"Sysdine is an incredible resource for all-sized businesses," she concluded.

Captain D's

As Captain D's announced in a press release earlier this year, "A one-year Sysdine pilot program helped Captain D's reduce hourly employee turnover by more than 100 percentage points, and helped the chain achieve a considerable reduction in management turnover."

And their CEO, David Head, stated in a recent magazine article that "Captain D's reduced turnover to the 'double digits,' after implementing an employee screening service (Sysdine) that helps the company select staff with a service mindset."

Sysdine Makes Business Sense

Sysdine makes business sense.  For most companies, if Sysdine eliminates only one turnover per store per year, then it has more than covered its full cost!  The additional turnovers which Sysdine helps to prevent are pure profit, as are the improvements in workforce quality.

But it's not just turnover reduction.  Our customers have also found that Sysdine helps to:

-- Increase the flow of applicants;

-- Eliminate the traffic and distraction of applicants applying within a store;

-- Provide employees who are more likely to be productive and customer-oriented; and

-- Reduce the time that managers must spend in processing and interviewing applicants.
